The fun art of flat lay styling.

I like pretty things. Pretty things that are also useful are great but often I find myself collecting mostly useless things. Things that are beautiful and that are put in boxes after I admired them for a little while. Since my collection of feathers, stones, jewelry, porcelain animal figures and postcards became bigger I thought of a fun way of using them: styling! I started using my collection of little treasures and knick-knacks to decorate my food photos on Instagram and I found out that it made my photos so much nicer. By using my, for example, bird feathers to decorate the photos with it made the end result so much more personal! I really liked how the photos became something that someone could actually recognize as my work. A photo of a salad became much more than just a food photo. If you test a little bit and try different combinations of things you’ll get better and better at it. Just use the things you love, like dried flowers, pretty stones, old necklaces or …

Caffènation: the newest addition to the Amsterdam coffee scene.

Caffènation is your new place to be in Amsterdam if you are in need of a good flat white or any other cup of coffee. The cafe recently opened near the Hoofddorplein and is already getting very popular with the locals. I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a ‘Ginger Spice’ or a ‘Bitter Moon’. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) …

London vibes: my December citytrip

Last week I went to London for a little city trip with my boyfriend. We rented out our own apartment here in Amsterdam so we could spend a little extra money in London. We stayed for three nights and tried to see as much as we could. The weather was quite good; not too cold and no rain with sometimes, even a little sun.. I really liked to shop in Soho. Especially around Belgravia and Carnaby street. Also Shoreditch is much fun for the vintage shops, street art and cool coffeeshops. Mostly we just walked around, explored and enjoyed coffee’s and food. It was good!   For breakfast we visited the newly opened Cereal Killer Cafe in Shoreditch. This cool and fun place is the perfect breakfast joint. There are more than 120 types of cereals here and 30 different varieties of milk, which thus includes vegan options! Be sure to check the cereals so that you have a vegan one. You can even make your meal more spectacular with one of the 20 different toppings. I …
